Al-Shaghour
Al-Shaghour is a historic municipality south of the Old City of Damascus with a population of approximately 119,569. One of the traditional gateways to the old walled city, it has been a residential and commercial neighbourhood for centuries.
Al-Shaghour is known for its traditional houses, historic mosques, and vibrant street markets. The district has a strong community identity and is home to many old Damascene families. Its narrow streets and traditional architecture preserve the character of old Damascus while remaining a lively, working neighbourhood.
