Muhajreen

Muhajreen is a municipality on the northwestern slopes of Damascus with a population of approximately 55,510. Built on the foothills of Mount Qasioun, the district offers panoramic views over the city and is characterised by its terraced streets and hillside architecture.

The name means “the emigrants,” referring to Muslim refugees who settled here after fleeing from the Balkans in the late Ottoman period. Muhajreen is known for its historic houses, narrow winding streets, and its proximity to popular Qasioun viewpoint restaurants.
